Raiden-sama no Mizu, the Legendary Underground Water from Mt. Hakkai

Raiden-sama no Mizu is the legendary underground water from Mt. Hakkai, used as "mother water" in the production of sake.

Drink delicious water as you head toward Minamiuonuma's famous water spots, led by helpful guides who explain the sights.

Raiden-sama no Mizu is spring water that pools on the surface of the mountain after the snow that piled up during the winter has melted. In a process that takes many months and years underground, melted snow is filtered of impurities and water rich in minerals from the soil eventually gushes forth from the earth.

This water is also used as the "mother water" for the famed Hakkaisan sake. The area has deep roots as a place of production for delicious sake.
