Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage Center
Your first stop when you visit Hiraizumi!
The Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage Center is a guide center that shows off Hiraizumi's cultural heritage through panels and videos in an easy-to-understand manner. Take a tour here before sightseeing at Chuson-ji Temple and Motsu-ji Temple to better understand them. Not only can you learn the history and background for free, but you can also find out how crowded surrounding facilities are, so it is a useful spot for sightseeing.
The exhibit room explains the history of how the Fujiwara clan prospered in Hiraizumi in an easy-to-understand manner using exhibit materials and dioramas. It is also explained using video and audio. Artefacts excavated from the town are also on display, and can be confirmed as materials supporting the town's history. Audio guides in four languages are also available.
If you are going to visit the ancient temples and shrines in Hiraizumi, a World Heritage Site, be sure to stop here first.
