Fujisawa Shuhei Memorial Museum

Appreciate the world view of Shuhei Fujisawa who is also famous for his original works that have been turned into movies

Shuhei Fujisawa is known as the writer of the original works of numerous movies including Tasogare Seibei (The Twilight Samurai) and Semishigure (The Samurai I Loved). This museum will introduce you to the world of the works  and the life of the historical novel writer Shuhei Fujisawa. 


The courtyard where garden trees are planted and the inner garden covered with roof tiles were relocated from his former residence in Tokyo. The study in his home where he created many works has been relocated and recreated. The exhibition of this is a must-see! The museum displays hand-written manuscripts, original memos and favorite items. This allows you to understand the creative atmosphere into which his works were born. There is also a salon where you can read the books he authored. You will soon become absorbed in reading.


After appreciating the world view of Shuhei Fujisawa in the museum, head out for a stroll around the places related to his works dotted throughout Tsuruoka!
