Kawatabi Onsen
An ancient hot spring that has been open for 1,000 years
Naruko Onsenkyo consists of five hot spring areas. These are Naruko Onsen, Higashi-Naruko Onsen, Kawatabi Onsen, Nakayamadaira Onsen and Onikobe Onsen. Kawatabi Onsen here is the closet to Sendai and Furukawa. You will find it in a location approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by express intercity bus from Sendai.
Kawatabi Onsen is an ancient hot spring that has been open for 1,000 years. There are six hot spring inns - from a traditional self-catering hot spring inn to an at-home hot spring inn and a large ryokan (Japanese inn) - in the quiet hot spring district loved under the name of Kakke Kawatabi since the olden days.
There is a simple communal bath here. It flows directly from the source with a slightly higher water temperature. You can enjoy an olive green sulfur spring. The facility is unmanned, so you have to place the fee in a wooden box.
