Misawa Aviation & Science Museum, Aomori

If you like planes, you can have fun for the whole day! A museum of aviation and science

The Misawa Aviation & Science Museum, Aomori is located adjacent to Misawa Airport. You will find 11 Japan-US military aircraft that once flew in the skies throughout Japan against the background of the magnificent scenery of the airfield. These aircraft - ranging from real jet planes, propeller planes and fighters to transport aircraft - are exhibited outdoors in one corner of Misawa Sky Park.

You can experience boarding the first supersonic speed fighter F-104J of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and can tour the inside of aircraft such as the high-rank executive transport plane UP-3A of the U.S. Navy in the museum.

The Misawa Aviaion & Science Museum, Aomori, where you can enjoy learning about the aviation history and science of Japan under the themes of the sky and flying, is comprised of two zones - the Aviation Zone and the Science Zone.

The Aviation Zone exhibits devices that can simulate the experience of being in the world of a pilot and the restored Miss Veedol that was the first aircraft in the world to make a nonstop flight across the Pacific Ocean. In addition, the large space exhibits actual aircraft and restored aircraft deeply connected to Aomori Prefecture. These include the actual first passenger plane YS-11 to be produced in Japan and the Koken-ki research aircraft that recorded the world's longest orbital aviation flight range. Moreover, this space is also home to approximately 800 model planes that show the evolution and development of aircraft by age.

The Science Zone exhibits wind tunnel test equipment that allows you to experience the power that emerges in strong winds, a flight simulator and participation-based devices to understand the principles and mechanisms of aircraft on a sensory basis.

Furthermore, there is a science experiment studio. This studio holds science shows and workshops to provide experiences of various scientific phenomena.

Hardcore aircraft enthusiasts will be fully satisfied here. On the other hand, there are also plenty of experience areas that can be enjoyed even by those who are not interested in aircraft. There is a cafe and a museum shop, so this is a spot that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages.
