A must-see for fans of architecture! A complex cultural facility with a striking building serving as its landmark

sendai mediatheque was designed by world-renowned architect Toyo Ito and is ranked as one of the top 10 buildings of the Heisei era (1989-2019) in Japan. It houses an art gallery and a theater, where exhibition screenings and other events are held. There is also a video and audio library, a library for the blind and visually impaired, and also the Sendai City Library, amassing and offering the latest knowledge and information.

Directions
Subway: Get off at Kotodai-Koen Station (Nanboku Line) and walk 6 minutes (450 meters) from Koen 2 exit. Get off at Omachi Nishi-Koen Station (Tozai Line) and walk 13 minutes from East 1 or West 1 exits. Get off at Aoba-dori Ichibancho Station (Tozai Line), and walk 15 minutes from North 1 exit.
Bus: Take the Sendai City Bus bound for Kotsukyoku Daigaku Byoin via Jozenjidori Shiyakusho-mae (bus line number begins with "J" or "X") from Sendai Eki-mae No. 60 (in front of Sendai TR Building or Sendai Subway Station's Chuo 2 exit) for 10 minutes, and get off at Mediatheque-mae bus stop.
Car: Approximately 10 minutes (5.3 km) from the Sendai-Miyagi Interchange (Tohoku Expressway).
