The Sendai Castle VR Go Experience is a 360-degree VR experience using a head-mounted display for 25 to 30 minutes at each point of the Honmaru Palace of Sendai Castle, which was built by Date Masamune. You can see Tsumenomon, the main gate of the Honmaru Palace, Onarimon, the gate for welcoming the emperor and shogun, Ohiroma, the core facility of Sendai Castle, which is the best example of Momoyama architecture, and Kakezukuri, which served as a symbol of the keepless Sendai Castle. In particular, the gorgeous and luxurious shohekiga (pictures on partitions) in the Ohiroma remind us of Date Masamune’s wish to create a peaceful and prosperous country and people, along with taking parts of Momoyama culture from the Kamigata region, which is the region around Kyoto and Osaka. Built on the cliff lined in the east side of the Honmaru Palace, the Kakezukuri is a traditional building representing the Date family where you can simulate an experience to the spirit of the Date people while enjoying a spectacular view.
