The museum utilizes historical buildings such as townhouses and a sake brewery on the site of the former Iwategawa Nataya-cho factory, and exhibits materials and daily necessities to introduce the changing lifestyles of the people.

In addition to the exhibition space, there is a hall for various events, a café, and a shop selling Iwate and Morioka souvenirs.
