Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture: "Iai Battoujutsu Samurai Experience" in the birthplace of Iaido

Learning the Art of Not Fighting Authenticity Time

After visiting Japan's only iaido shrine dedicated to the founder of iaido, Shigenobu Hayashizaki Jinsuke, you will learn iaido etiquette and the basic form of iaido, “shohatto,” from a high rank iaido practitioner, and observe a “test cutting,” which is the art of cutting a tatami mat cylinder with a serious sword. This is a valuable experience to come into contact with techniques that have been handed down from generation to generation.
