Michinoku Hydrangea Garden

Welcome to the fantastic space with 40,000 hydrangeas of 400 varieties, one of the best in Japan.

The Michinoku Hydrangea Garden began when Mr. Ito, the owner of the garden, planted hydrangeas in a cedar grove. Today, 40,000 hydrangeas of about 400 varieties bloom on both sides of a walking path surrounded by a cedar forest more than three times the size of the Tokyo Dome.

The Yamamoto Collection, collected from all over Japan by the late Takeomi Yamamoto, former president of the Japan Hydrangea Association, is a treasure trove of precious mountain hydrangeas.

It is the “No.1 hydrangea garden in Japan” certified by the Japan Hydrangea Association.

Notes

Open to the public only during the Michinoku Hydrangea Festival (late June to late July).
