Sightsee Hanamaki on a retro jumbo taxi with a charming design

Hop on a unique jumbo taxi and tour sightseeing spots scattered across Hanamaki. Although the exact itinerary changes periodically, you will tour facilities related to great historical figures associated with Hanamaki, such as Kenji Miyazawa (a Hanamaki-born local poet and writer of children’s stories who left behind many works in the early 1900s) and Inazo Nitobe (a Morioka-born local educator and famous thinker who was active in the first half of the 1900s. He is the face on the 5,000-yen Japanese banknote), and local wineries. The taxi is a revival of a vehicle from the 1920s. While it may not offer the smoothest ride, the taxi and the taxi driver dressed in retro style clothing will make you feel as though you have slipped back in time.

The price includes admission fees (with some exceptions). The taxi, which you can hop on and off at various hotels in the Hanamaki Onsen Village, offers a reasonably priced and convenient form of transport for sightseeing.

*Advance reservations required. One taxi can fit up to six people. If there are many reservations, a standard jumbo taxi will be used.
