Deity of Good Relationship and Marriage: Become a Miko at Kumano Taisha Shrine(YAMAGATA ARCADIA Tourism Bureau)
Become a miko and serve the deity of good relationship and marriage Make a fresh start with dignity and a purified soul
Kumano Taisha Shrine in Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture worships the deity of good relationship and marriage.
A solemn, crisp air drifts through the precincts, which have existed here since ancient times.
At Kumano Taisha Shrine, a miko, or a shrine maiden who serves the deity daily, will teach you about the conduct of a miko, and you can experience being a miko yourself. After you have cleansed and purified your soul at the precincts, the chief priest will explain about Kojiki (Japan’s oldest historical text compiled in 712) to deepen your knowledge. You will then make your own original omamori amulet for your wish, and take part in an official prayer.
You will eat lunch (choice of four local restaurants) after completing this authentic experience.
