Several waterfalls await you deep in the mountains of Ani, home to the Matagi (people who hunt in groups using traditional methods, in mountainous regions such as Tohoku). In this tour, an active Matagi will guide you as you trek toward the waterfalls. Get your fill of wild nature while immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Akita and learning about edible wild plants and animal tracks from the perspective of the Matagi, experts of these mountains. You may even find bear claw marks or encounter a wild Japanese serow! Enjoy trekking at your own pace—you can decide which waterfall to aim for, or adjust your departure time, depending on your available time and stamina (return time depends on the sunset time). There are no rental equipment available; please bring your own trekking gear. The guide is a local hunter. Separate arrangements will be necessary for an English-speaking guide.
