Kaneyu is a nationally registered tangible cultural property and a symbol of Noshiro City, which once prospered due to the natural Akita cedar lumber industry. Kaneyu was originally a high-end, Japanese-style restaurant that welcomed visitors who came from all across Japan to buy lumber. Today it is a facility that welcomes sightseers.Kaneyu is constructed in the sukiya-zukuri style, a traditional Japanese residential architectural style that incorporates elements of the tea ceremony aesthetic. Each room in the building has been ingeniously constructed according to different designs. In this experience, you will enjoy a tour of the building and a photoshoot while wearing a kimono (or in the summer, a yukata—a casual form of kimono worn directly against the bare skin that is popular among young people in Japan). Staff will also introduce you to their recommended photo-taking spots. This is a great opportunity to take plenty of photos by which to remember your Japan travels!
