The trees and rocks of Oirase Gorge, selected as a National Bryophyte Heritage Site in Japan, are covered in a thick layer of moss that transforms the forest of mostly deciduous broadleaf trees into a natural moss garden. Join a guided, small group walking tour to explore the tiny natural world of moss while learning about the natural history and ecosystem of the Oirase forest. The light tour can be enjoyed as a brief nature walk, using a magnifying glass to take a closer look at the moss. The beautiful gorge has also been designated as a natural treasure of Japan and is a famous spot for photos.
