An iron and steel museum representative of Kamaishi, the birthplace of modern steelmaking in Japan.
The museum features polished visual devices with which you can enjoy learning about the history of iron, including a theatre with a visual performance that introduces the history of iron making in Kamaishi with sounds, light, and video centred on a model of a blast furnace restored to its full size, 3D footage of steelmaking work at the time, and Q&A about iron by computer.
There is also an area that introduces the iron around us, which features an explanation of the steel manufacturing process and a cut-out model of a car, plus steel playground equipment, and zone where you can try steel casting.
