Studio Sedic Shonai Open Set

Studio Sedic Shonai Open Set located at the foot of Mt. Gassan where nature extends out. It is a movie set with a vast site of 88 hectares. There is a lineup of sets for shooting a fishing village, farming village and post town. This means you can enjoy the stage of historical drama movies. Most of the sets are buildings built for shooting. They have a degree of completion which means you will not notice that they are reconstructed buildings. 
A noteworthy set is the merchant residence in the fishing village area. It is has many rooms and is one of the largest buildings in the park with a degree of completion that means it does not look like a set. It has been used in numerous movies including Rurouni Kenshin: Origins. Maybe you have seen it too?
The beautifully scenic post town area is a magnificent location with a depth of 200 meters. It has the atmosphere of a post town in which many people come and go. You will truly feel like you have stepped back in time to a town in the Edo period (1603 to1868). The majestic Mt. Gassan that extends out over the set also matches the set.
The paddy fields of the rural area, the set of Oshin's birthplace used in the shooting of the Oshin movie, is planted with rice and this rice is then reaped every year by hand to match those times. There are no telephone poles, a part of Japanese scenery you usually expect to encounter, as far as your eyes can see! This is a feature the park is committed to in order to reproduce the original landscape of Japan.
There is a stunning approximately 6.5-meter high front castle gate standing in the Sengoku Otemon Area. You can climb up to the second-story turret that serves as the watchtower with cannons and then look out over the park. The view from here is the best as you would expect from a watchtower.
The park is large, so we recommend using a tour bus (all-day unlimited rides: 500 yen).
