The Miyagi Museum of Art exhibits works mainly related to Miyagi Prefecture and the Tohoku region. In addition to contemporary Japanese paintings, Western paintings, woodblock prints, sculptures and crafts, the museum also stores foreign works (e.g., Kandinsky and Klee) and original pictures from picture books of postwar Japan.
You can experience art by making pieces yourself in addition to looking at the permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions. You will find the tools that will enable you to produce paintings and woodblock prints and to make pieces from wood, metal and earth in the creative room. You will also come across members who staff who will give you concrete advice in this room.
There are four gardens inside and outside the museum. They each form a space with a different tenor. There are also outdoor sculptures here.
