This is a little-known ski resort that is never crowded despite having good access from Tokyo - it is approximately 20 minutes from Nihonmatsu IC. It has a gentle and wide ski slope that is perfect for families and beginners. You can also have fun with sleds and tubing in the kid's area. You can even take lessons in a school for both skiing and snowboarding.
You can experience walking on a snow field in Snowshoe Park. If you rent snowshoes, you can play in the snow in a winter wonderland. If you're lucky, you may also encounter rabbits, foxes and other small animals. Adatarayama Okudake-no Yu is located at an altitude of approximately 950 meters. You can view the mountain range that has a beautiful view of fresh greenery in the spring and red leaves in the fall and the ""honto-no sora (real sky)"" known for being described in the Chieko-sho (Portrait of Chieko) poem by the poet Kotaro Takamura from the semi-open air bath with all the windows of the indoor bath fully open.
Mt. Adatara, where Adatara Kogen Resort is located, is also one of the top hundred mountains of Japan and one of the top hundred flower mountains. You can reach an altitude of 1,350 meters by the ropeway. There is also a trekking course for beginners to intermediate walkers that takes four to six hours from the summit station.
