Atsumi Onsen

Atsumi Onsen is a hot spring brimming with nature that has prospered along the clear stream of Atsumi River. Approximately 300 cherry trees planted alongside the river bloom here. These trees are lit up at night. Why don't you enjoy viewing these cherry blossoms at a relaxed pace while soaking in a foot bath maintained alongside the river. This area bustles with fishermen enjoying fishing for sweetfish in the early summer and you can see salmon swim upstream in front of your eyes in the fall. This means you can enjoy the River Atsumi as it changes with each season.
The hot spring district is home to a number of attractions you can stop by. These include a communal bath loved by locals, footbaths located alongside the river and right in the middle of the hot spring district, a drinking spring that allows you to enjoy a hot spring inside your body, a hot spring shrine where the guardian deity of hot springs is enshrined, and a park where approximately 3,000 roses in 90 varieties bloom one after another. You will also find plenty of spots to take a rest here. For example, there is a cafe where you can soak in a footbath while drinking tea and a wood deck maintained alongside the river. Therefore, you can have peace of mind even if you become tired from walking in the district. In addition to soaking your whole body in the hot spring, you can fully enjoy it by just soaking your feet or by drinking it.
We recommend you wake up a little early and purchase your souvenirs in the morning market (usually open from April to November). You will find perfect souvenirs lined up here for you such as red turnip pickles that are the specialty of Atsumi and processed marine products distinctive of this hot spring district located near to the sea.
