A new experience using the senses with sound and images from The Legends of Tono!

Tono Folktale Museum
The Tono Folktale Museum is a facility that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. It features the Hall of Stories where you can experience the world of folk tales through introductions of the Zashiki Warashi spirits, Yuki Onna (Snow Woman), and other tales through the use of kiri-e papercutting art, illustrations, videos, and more. There is also the Kunio Yanagita Exhibition Hall, a relocated building associated with Kunio Yanagita, the author of The Legends of Tono, as well as the Tono Theater where visitors can enjoy folk tales and local performing arts, the Itoke restaurant, and the Akabane-gura souvenir shop.
Performances of folk tales by storytellers are conducted in the Tono Theater.April-November: Every day at 11:00, 13:00, and 14:00Mid-July to the end of August: Every day at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, and 15:00December-March: Saturday, Sunday and national holidays only at 13:00
