The Sansa Odori is a dance that has been handed down since the feudal era and is said to have originated from the "Mitsuishi legend. Morioka Sansa Odori" started in 1978, and has now become firmly established among citizens as the main summer event in Morioka, with a total of 35,000 participants, including 20,000 dancers, 12,000 drummers, and 2,500 flute players over four days. The parade is truly a powerful one, with a continuous stream of dancers in matching yukata (summer kimono).
Note: The parade site will be closed to vehicular traffic from 17:50 to 21:30.
